Characteristics of Goth Culture

Ancient Europe is where the goth culture originated from. It was developed by people who desired to be free from the social norms dictated by society. They considered themselves rebels. More countries have since adopted this culture while others relate it to evil. Some associate it with pirates. On days such as Halloween, people embrace this culture. The gothic culture is still being embraced by people in various countries. There has however been a decline in its popularity with time. The goth culture has several characteristics.

People who embrace the goth culture are likely to put on black clothes. The top and bottom of these clothes is normally laced. The clothes are normally free and most times oversized. Complex designs are also used to make those wearing them stand out. During social functions, it is easy to notice people who have embraced the goth culture. The black clothing can at times be mixed with other colors. The look is completed by color red and yellow. This is so that they keep up with changing trends. The colors are also mixed y the designers so that other people are attracted to the clothes.

Dark make up is associated with the goth culture. They wear lipstick or eyeliner that is dark. Females and males who embrace the goth culture can have this. The makeup is made such that it becomes easy for people to notice. They can as well have tattoos which complement their look. Dark nail polish is also used on the nails. They maintain long nails most of the times. Black dye is also used on their hair. These make it easy to identify people who embrace the goth culture. People can also differentiate gothic people from those just putting on black makeup.

Gothic people also have a special type of jewelry. They prefer jewelry made from oxidized silver to complete their look. Their jewelry is also left to hang loosely. Long chains are also used. Most however tend to avoid the use of jewelry. They also apply white powder on their faces. They can also have black gloves on. Gothic clothing is normally suitable for different weather conditions. Adjusting to different regions becomes easy for them.

The gothic culture has been embraced for a long time. In some communities, it is a culture associated with mourning. People embrace this form of culture when attending funerals. It is however most of the times complemented by other types of fashion. As a result of interaction with different cultures and lapse of time, the gothic culture has had many changes. This has led to loss of uniqueness and originality. Some people have however remained true to it. Goth culture is therefore a free culture that various people can be part of without having difficulties adjusting. All they need is to embrace dark colors.
